Shopify Developer (f/m/d) 
Employment: Full-time 40 hours, flexible working hours
Direct supervisor: Group Director DTC
Team: DTC - Webshop
Location: Düsseldorf (NRW), Hamburg (HH), Remote (Germany)

As a Shopify Developer at Natural Elements, you’ll be the key technical force behind our online store. You’ll take end-to-end ownership of all development projects related to the online store, UX/UI, and technical integrations - and work directly with the Online Store Lead as well as cross-functionally with Marketing, Brand, AI, and Operations.
This role is not a traditional developer job. You think strategically, act independently, and are deeply immersed in the code at the same time.
 

Your Responsibilities
 

Shopify Development & Shop Ownership
 

• Full technical ownership of the Shopify store (theme development, custom sections, Liquid)
• Development and maintenance of custom themes based on Shopify 2.0 (Dawn/Headless-ready)
• Implementation and optimization of performance measures (Core Web Vitals, LCP, CLS)
• Integration and management of third-party apps, custom scripts, and API connections
• Creation and maintenance of technical documentation for all Shopify processes

 
UX/UI & Conversion Optimization
 

• Technical implementation of UX/UI concepts in close collaboration with Brand & Design
• Independent development and evaluation of A/B tests
• Optimization of key conversion paths & customer journey: PDP, checkout, upsell flows, product finder
• Development and refinement of a loyalty program
• Ongoing analysis of store metrics (CR, ATC, checkout completion, AOV) and derivation of measures

 
Technical Integrations & Cross-Functional Collaboration
 

• Co-ownership of technical stack decisions (apps, tools, APIs, tracking)
• Integration of marketing technology
• Close collaboration with Marketing (CRM, campaign landing pages), Brand (visual implementation), and Operations (fulfillment flows)
• Technical briefing and QA for external service providers and freelancers
• Active involvement in shaping the roadmap for the web shop platform strategy

Must-haves
 

• 3+ years of experience in Shopify development (Liquid, theme architecture, Shopify 2.0)
• Strong proficiency in JavaScript, HTML/CSS, and JSON
• Hands-on experience with the Shopify app ecosystem (Recharge, Klaviyo, Judge.me, or similar)
• Proven track record in conversion optimization (A/B testing, conversion rate improvements)
• Self-motivated, structured approach to work - you don’t wait for instructions, you take the initiative
• Fluent German and good English

 
Nice-to-have
 

• Experience with Headless Shopify (Hydrogen, Next.js, Remix)
• Knowledge of the D2C/e-commerce subscription landscape
• Understanding of SEO technical requirements in a shop context
• Experience with Figma (design handoff, reading UI specifications)
• Background or strong interest in the health/supplement sector
